In Warranty Portable Electronics Insurance
My Essentials Protection Personal Electronic Insurance (P.E.I.) Plans :
Protection+ Plan (Annual or Monthly) – Loss or Damage PEI Insurance
This P.E.I. plan insures hearing instruments for Loss, Damage or Theft under the manufacturer’s warranty. So long as the hearing instruments are under warranty for more than 30 days (warranty expiration date within 30 days of enrollment) and have not been replaced by the manufacturer. (aka replacement aid) This is the most popular policy we offer.
Aids that are eligible for this plan must be:
- Hearing aids that are under warranty (excluding reconditioned aids)
- Hearing aids that have not been claimed through the manufacturer already
- Hearing aids that are eligible for L/D claims under the manufacturer
- Hearing aids with a warranty expiration date greater than 30 days away
Any hearing instrument must be inspected to be in the patient’s possession at the time of enrollment at a store location. Aids cannot be enrolled without an inspection and authorization form completed at the store location. Enrollments through the mail or over the phone are strictly prohibited these enrollments will not be honored without an inspection in store.
Patient’s hearing aids are not eligible for the Protection+ plan when:
- Already claimed under the manufacturer’s warranty
- Manufacturer’s warranty does not include Loss or Damage replacements
- Aid(s) with an expired manufacturer’s warranty (or no warranty at all)
- Aid(s) that has already been lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair
- Aid(s) that have not been inspected in store and in the patient’s possession at the time of authorization (aids can be authorized upon purchase and enrolled upon delivery)
The most common enrollments are for one or two hearing aids. If your patient is interested in more than two aids being covered they can be added for an additional $4.00/month per aid.

Out of warranty plans:
Secure plan (Annual or Monthly) – out of warranty hearing Instrument(s) until 5 years of age REPAIRS ONLY
This plan covers hearing instruments for repairs when out of warranty for up to 5 years of age. With the expiration of the manufacturer’s warranty the aids are no longer covered for repairs or L/D claims. This plan will cover those hearing instruments for repairs and include all other member benefits from My Essentials. (Newsletter, batteries, online store, and referral program)
Like any other My Essentials enrollment the aids are required to be inspected in store to be in working order upon authorization and enrollment. Most Secure plan enrollments take place at an appointment scheduled just before the warranty expiration date. Most every manufacturer sends a letter notifying the patient their warranty is due to expire soon. (generally 3 months or so from warranty) This message also encourages your patient to contact your store to examine end of warranty options.
Why the Secure plan? And what’s this discount I’ve heard of?
When a patient comes in at the end of their warranty it’s a great opportunity for your hearing specialist to approach for an upgrade. If they aren’t quite ready for new equipment the Secure plan is a great option for your patients. While offering coverage for repairs on their hearing instruments, the plan offers a discount for up to 12 months of what they pay for the Secure plan on new hearing instruments. So, after 12 months the patient would be discounted $263.40 off their newly purchased hearing aids!
Can the discount be applied to another My Essentials plan? (hint… the answer is no)
Since the discount is applied on the purchase of new hearing instruments, the only plan available would be the Protection+ plan. The Protection+ plan is insurance and it is not possible to discount insurance under any circumstances. This is why it’s important to apply this discount to the new aids.
Secure+ plan (Annual ONLY) – out of warranty hearing Instrument(s) until 7 years of age REPAIRS ONLY
The Secure+ plan nearly identical to the Secure plan with two distinct differences:
1.) The plan is only offered on an annual basis
2.) The aids are 5-7 years old

Platinum Plan (Annual or Monthly) – Loss or Damage PEI Insurance
The Platinum Protection Plan is an insurance plan that offers Loss and Damage and Repair benefits to patients who are out of warranty or are no longer covered by the manufacturer’s warranty.
The plan benefits are similar to the Protection Plan as it is L/D insurance on hearing instruments as well as up to $500 in repairs.
Platinum Plan is not available on aids over 84 months/7 years old. Any replacement will be of like or similar technology should the original model not be available for replacement.
